Cultural excursions
Sabiñánigo is the most important town in the region historically known as El Serrablo, noted for its Mozarabic and Romanesque buildings. The historic quarter of the original town has been declared a Cultural Heritage.
Historically, all along the Gallego river a number of Roman villas were built, among them the current Sabiñánigo. Later, at the beginning of the Middle Ages, the Muslim governor of Huesca decided that between the tenth and eleventh centuries the “Serrablés” Moorish style should be developed in the region of Serrablo, of which Sabiñanigo is the capital. The churches and buildings from this period along with other Romanesque constructions form an architectural heritage which is unique in the world, known as the "Route of Serrablo".
The Route of Serrablo is made up a remarkable group of fourteen churches, all of them located on the left bank of the river Gallego. The hotel reception team can give you more information on this wonderful sight.
